    The UDIA (Qld) has been made aware of recent issues in Cairns concerning Ant Plants (Myrmecodia beccarii) and development sites. The species has been listed as Vulnerable under the EPBC Act since 2008, however recent mapping released under the new State Government Protected Plant legislative framework has significant implications for developable land in Far North Queensland.

    The UDIA (Qld) Mackay Whitsunday Branch will soon be meeting with Ergon in October 2014. This meeting with Ergon is an opportunity for the Branch to highlight any issues members may have regarding the AER for 2015 - 2020.

  • Cairns Ergon Energy Network Update Event

    The UDIA (Qld) Cairns Branch hosted a briefing by Ergon Energy on 10 September 2014. The event featured speakers, Geoff Bowes, Customer Delivery Manager for Connections, Relations and Metering, Ergon Energy, and Simon Perkins, Director of SPA Consulting Engineers, who shared their insight on the recent Ergon Energy restructure, future investment plans and the impact this would have on the local property development industry.

  • Priority Infrastructure Plan ongoing work

    The UDIA (Qld) Toowoomba Branch has received an acceptance from Toowoomba Regional Council for ongoing collaborative work on the Priority Infrastructure Plan Works schedule. This is in relation to the fair value infrastructure and infrastructure charges.

  • Development Challenges workshop

    The UDIA (Qld) Fraser Coast Branch held an interactive one day workshop in May 2014 with Councillors, the executive staff and planning staff from the Fraser Coast Regional Council on development challenges.

    The workshop was an informative session for Councillors and staff on the land development process from land identification and acquisition, development feasibility, development funding, application processes, through to construction and delivery of residential allotments.

  • Power in the regions - UDIA (Qld) Bundaberg Event

    The next Road Show event in the UDIA (Qld) Knowledge Series is coming to Bundaberg on 16 September 2014, 7:30am at the Spinnaker.

    Ergon Energy will be presenting their recent business restructure, key changes to local representatives, Ergon's investment plans for the Australian Energy Regulator 2015 - 2020 and power issues.

  • Stage 2 Light Rail

    With the successful completion of the Stage 1 light rail route, attention is now turning to the Stage 2 connection to link the light rail to the heavy rail line.

    The City of Gold Coast’s Transport Strategy 2031 recommended the Stage 2 route extend from Griffith University to  Parkwood where a new railway station was proposed to be built.
