1 September 2022, Meeting with Toowoomba Branch Committee: while visiting the beautiful city of Toowoomba I caught up with Branch President, Edward Hodge, and a few members of the branch committee. Our regional branches are the lifeblood of the Institute, and it was so good to chat about the Garden City’s market.
6 September 2022, Meeting with Debbie McNamara: I regularly meet with Debbie McNamara from Economic Development Queensland (EDQ) to discuss the current opportunities and obstacles facing members when interacting with EDQ.
6 September 2022, National Cabinet Meeting: I met with my interstate UDIA colleagues and other representatives from UDIA National to discuss Federal matters relevant to members.
6 September 2022, Community Planning Education Working Group: chaired by the Department of State Development, Infrastructure, Local Government and Planning, the Working Group brings together representatives from state and local government and other industry bodies to form a campaign to educate the community on Queensland’s planning framework.
8 September 2022, Meeting with Dy Currie: I met with Dy Currie from Brisbane City Council to discuss our members’ experiences with Council and to look ahead to the Olympics and beyond.
8 September 2022, Site Tour: I met with Mosaic Property Group and toured The Sinclair. The opportunity to tour the projects created by our members is incredibly inspiring and I am grateful to Marina Vit for giving up her time to take the team through the building.
9 September 2022, Meeting with John Cowie: I met with John Cowie from Brisbane City Council to discuss the challenges and opportunities faced by our members in the Brisbane Region.
9 September 2022, Meeting with DBI: I caught up with Michael Stott from DBI, chatting about the market and changing urban landscape of our state.
12 September 2022, Podcast Sessions: I interviewed a couple of members for episodes of the Institute’s podcast, The Development Drum. Keep an eye out for new episodes which will be released in the coming months!
13 September 2022, Meeting with Cr Allan: Along with the Institute’s Director of Policy and State President, I met with Cr Adam Allan. Cr Allan is Brisbane City Council’s Planning Chair, and we discussed matters pertinent to our members, including carparking and the Green Buildings Incentive Scheme.
14 September 2022, Meeting with Alison Quinn: Anna Cox, Director of Policy, and I met with Alison Quinn, Chair of the Review into the Role of the Developer, to discuss the Review.
14 September 2022, Meeting with Deputy Premier’s Office: I met with Peter Spencer and Alyssa van Butzelaar from the Deputy Premier’s office. Along with Anna Cox, Director of Policy, we discussed the key matters impacting the Institute and community.
15 September 2022, Meeting with the Leader of the Opposition: Along with the Institute’s State President and Director of Policy, I met with David Crisafulli. I appreciated the opportunity to brief Mr Crisafulli on the unfolding housing affordability and rental availability crisis.
16 September 2022, Housing Roundtable: I represented the Institute and our members at the State Government’s Housing Roundtable. Ahead of the Housing Summit on October 20, the Roundtable was an opportunity to come together and work through some of the issues contributing to the housing crisis and potential solutions.
19 September 2022, Meeting with Institute Member: I caught up with Sam Burgess from Village Building. It was good to catch-up with Sam and hear firsthand the challenges facing his business.
20 September 2022, National Cabinet Meeting: I met with my interstate UDIA colleagues and other representatives from UDIA National to discuss Federal matters relevant to matters.
20 September 2022, Meeting with Chris Aston: I regularly meet with Chris Aston, Acting State Planner, to discuss the matters affecting members across the state. As the housing affordability and rental availability crisis deepens, it is more important than ever that industry and government collaborate on solutions.

28 September 2022, Meeting with Member: I met with Michael Stone from PEET, to hear firsthand the challenges experienced by PEET across the state. Michael is a stalwart of the industry, and I appreciate his generosity in meeting with me.
29 September 2022, Meeting with Member: Along with our Director of Member Services, I caught up with Robbie Marshall from ADG for a coffee. It was great to see Robbie and hear about the work ADG are undertaking.
29 September 2022, Meeting with PWC: Ahead of a Housing Challenge Think Tank I’m attending with PWC next month, I met with Kevin Holzapfel. The current crisis will require a sustained, multi-faceted approach and I appreciated the chance to chat about these matters with Kevin.
