Motor sport shifts into next gear

Rockhampton Regional Council has taken major steps toward the region accommodating a multipurpose motor sports precinct.

Master planning is currently underway to determine the suitability of the preferred site for the motorsport precinct. Community engagement will take place as part of this project to ensure it meets community values and provides the greatest environmental, economic, and social benefit to the region.

The location of the preferred site is at 53199 Burnett Highway, Bouldercomb and is currently under contract subject to due diligence and suitability of motorsport related activities.
The new precinct is envisaged to multiple uses such as:

  • Speedway
  • Motorkhana
  • Rally
  • Drifting
  • Motocross
  • Drag racing
  • 4WD tracks
  • Touring cars
  • Driving school facilities.

The Institute’s Central Queensland branch commends council on its efforts to date and urges them to proceed with this facility. This precinct will be essential to the Central Queensland economy, especially as we emerge out of COVID-19.
