Institute quick to raise offsets with new Environment Minister

The Institute recently congratulated Meaghan Scanlon MP as the new Minister for the Environment and the Great Barrier Reef and Minister for Science and Youth Affairs.

The Minister is relevant to a number of policy matters confronting members including Koala conservation, offsets policy and the review of the Commonwealth’s Environment Protection and Biodiversity Act.

The Institute formally requested appointment to the multi-sector Reference Group the Department is intending to establish to further the work commenced with the release of the Queensland Environment Offsets Framework Consultation and Response Report.

Given the level of our members’ interest and experience in the acquisition and discharge of environmental offsets, the Institute offered to provide our insights, experiences and case studies from the property sector across Queensland.
