Call for improved rear lots, landscaping & irrigation standards

Institute has written to the Far North Queensland Regional Organisation of Council’s (FNQROC) review on the regional development manual.

The Institute made calls for FNQROC to remove confusion around rear lots development. Confusion has been cited around the standards for access handle widths. A standardised drawing around how rear lots should be designed was pushed by the Institute.

Calls for more pragmatic solutions around temporary and permanent irrigation for landscaping and open space were also addressed. Branch members in the Cairns region, specifically, have highlighted the potential conflicts in conditions for development approvals packages.

The Institute submission is available here for members to view. This submission forms part of FNQROC’s biannual review of the manual. If you have any questions, please contact the branch via cairns@udiaqld.com.au.
