The development industry is the third largest generator of employment in Cairns and directly accounts for around 12 per cent of jobs in the region. The industry contributes approximately 9,000 jobs and $90m in state and federal taxes.
The Cairns Branch of the UDIA Queensland is committed to advocating on behalf of members, so that our issues are front and centre in the minds of policy makers, as they plan for the future of our growing region.
Our branch works with local authorities, Far North Queensland Regional Organisation of Councils (FNQROC) and service providers to progress and resolve the issues facing our members. In 2015 we will continue to meet with Council representatives bi-monthly.
We work hard to build relationships with key industry stakeholders to the point that we are regularly invited by various organisations and agencies to attend industry specific briefings, workshops and forums.
Through our regular events we provide members with access to expert information on new economic opportunities in tourism, sustainable building, analysis of future workforce needs, and the regional planning scheme.
