Townsville
The development industry is a cornerstone of the Townsville economy. Our industry is the third largest generator of employment and directly accounts for approximately 8,900, or 10 percent of jobs.
And it’s a great region to be part of; we are home to James Cook University, have been home to generations of Australian Defence Force families, and are uniquely placed to house the growth experienced by the mining sector. In regional Australia, we are a genuine multi-tiered economy, with tourism only one part of the economic mix.
The Townsville Branch of the Institute is proud to be the voice of the development industry in Queensland’s northern region and proud of our reputation as expert advisors to the Townsville City Council.
Our level of respect and authority has been built up over years by demonstrating to local authorities that when our members are doing well our community is prospering.
We continue to facilitate access to industry leaders through events that provide expert analysis of the demographic, economic and legislative challenges facing the development community in our region and across the State.
