Australia’s population is ageing at a significant rate. According to the 2010 Intergenerational Report released by the Treasury Department, between now and 2050 the number of older Australians aged 65 – 84 years is expected to more than double and the number of Australians aged 85 and over is expected to more than quadruple from 0.4 million people today to 1.8 million in 2050.

Where will older Australian’s live, what infrastructure is required and how will the Government and development industry meet their needs? At this workshop you will hear from five industry and government experts as they share with you the information you need to meet the needs of this increasing demographic.

Sam Sheppard is Director of The Buildmore Group, a winner of two Women in Development Excellence Awards, a mentor and the driving force behind the Women into Building Project.

When you meet Sam for the first time you can't help but feel inspired by her drive, commitment, never say die attiude and her positive outlook on life.

From juggling 3 jobs at the ripe old age of 11 and starting her first business at 17, Sam is now Director of The Buildmore Group, based on Queensland's Sunshine Coast.

In July 2009 Sam launched the Women into Building project, which is a home solely built by women in the development and construction arena.  This project has provided amazing experience and job opportunities for women in the building industry.
