Ipswich to Springfield Rail Study

The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) has released a report detailing the Ipswich Central to Springfield Central Public Transport Corridors.

The State Government has recognised this rail corridor as a priority project, considering it the region’s highest priority infrastructure project.

Ipswich City Council will also work with TMR to immediately progress with the implementation of stage 1 (Strategic Business Case) of the three formal planning stages.

Currently, the trip for Springfield residents travelling by rail to Ipswich takes a minimum 50 minutes, with this project aiming to halve this time for commuters.

The Institute supports the development of this business case for a rail corridor and will write in support of it in coming weeks.

More information is available here or, TMR can be contacted by email railplanning@tmr.qld.gov.au.

If you have any specific comments or views, please contact Institute Policy Executive Robert Tily via rtily@udiaqld.com.au.
