Infrastructure Update for the Toowoomba Region

The Toowoomba Branch hosted Ged Dowling (Group Property Manager – Wagners Corporation), John Dornbusch (Chairman of InterlinkSQ), David Foster (Senior Engineering Manager Queensland – Inland Rail) and Dallas Hunter (Group Manager-Property Development – Gardner & Sons) as part of the UDIA’s Toowoomba Infrastructure Update ‘Heads Up’ series.

The key points raised by the panel included:

  • Development of the Toowoomba Wellcamp Airport and Business Park to provide more opportunities of growth to the local economy
  • Project update of the InterlinkSQ delivery of the Inland Port, Intermodal Terminal and port rail shuttle between Toowoomba and the Port of Brisbane.
  • Benefits of the Inland Rail project is expected to boost Queensland’s Gross State Product by $7.274 billion.
  • The 126km section from Toowoomba to Kagaru, including large scale tunnelling, will be delivered through a Public Private Partnership (PPP)
  • Update of the Pulse Data Centre by the FKG Group that provides an environmentally sustainable and the largest scale data centre outside of major capital cities in Australia
  • The innovative new 150-megawatt gas-solar hybrid power plant by FKG Group opens a wide range of opportunities in food manufacturing, food production and advanced manufacturing
  • The combination of these infrastructure public works and private entrepreneurship will ensure that the Toowoomba region will experience significant growth in the coming years
