28 March 2019, UDIA Queensland “Future of Housing” Event It was a privilege to hear from John Daley of the Grattan Institute on the Future of Housing.
1 March 2019, Meeting with Sunland The opportunity to meet with our members is one of the best parts of my job. I enjoyed meeting with Sunland and understanding the challenges and triumphs they are currently facing.
5 March 2019, Meeting with Stockland I was able to meet with another of our members, Stockland, to discuss the impacts of the current political landscape on our members.
5 March 2019, Planning System Reference Group Chaired by the Deputy Director-General of Planning, the Reference Group includes representatives from local government, the Property Council of Australia, the Council of Social Services, and the Planning Institute of Australia. The purpose of the Group is to act as a sounding board for potential changes to policy and process as well as providing feedback from our members.
7 March 2019, Briefing on Olympic Feasibility Study from Council of Mayors South East Queensland I met with representatives of the Council of Mayors South East Queensland to discuss the potential of an Olympic Games bid for SEQ. After the success of the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games and the valuable legacy infrastructure the Games afforded, it was exciting to consider bringing another sporting event to SEQ!
8 March 2019, Meeting with Department of Environment and Science, We met with representatives of the Department of Environment and Science to discuss the current offsets review. This is such an incredibly important matter for our members and I really appreciate the willingness of the Department to consult with the Institute.
12 March 2019, Koala Advisory Council meeting, The Advisory Council was formed to provide advice on the development and implementation of a new koala conservation strategy in Queensland. I am privileged to represent the development industry on the council and look forward to working together with other council members to achieve the best possible outcome.
14 March 2019, meeting with Property Council Australia, I met with the Property Council of Australia to discuss the policy issues that are impacting our members and those of the Property Council.
19 March 2019, meeting with Consolidated Properties Group, I met with Industry Leaders Research Group member, Consolidated Properties to discuss the program of research for this year. 2019 sees the ILRG delving further into community perceptions of Performance Based Planning.
22 March 2019, meeting with Department of State Development, Manufacturing, Infrastructure and Planning I also had the opportunity to speak with staff at the Department about the work of the ILRG with respect to Performance Based Planning.
26 March 2019 to 28 March 2019, UDIA National Congress, Held on the Gold Coast, this year’s National Congress was hosted by the UDIA Queensland. After twelve months of meticulous planning and hard work, the team have created an exceptional Congress experience. I was incredibly proud to be a part of the delivery team for 2019 and have learned so much from the speakers and members that attended.
