Australia rates highly on international innovation

The Consumer Technology Association, representing one of the largest innovation oriented sectors in the world, has rated Australia the third most innovative country in the world in its sector in 2017.

First of the 39 countries ranked was Finland, with the United Kingdom second. Sweden was fourth, followed by the USA, and Singapore. Australia rated most highly on Diversity, Entrepreneurial Activity, Drones, and Self Driving Vehicles, and least highly on Tax Friendliness where it scored the equal second lowest mark. Read Article

Sydney builds on its international standing as a start up hub

Lendlease’s Darling Exchange development in Sydney is set to house a new Innovation Hub for the City of Sydney. The two level facility will incorporate a library, IQ-Hub, and Makerspace facilities. The facility will add to Sydney’s globally rated start-up ecosystem assisting entrepreneurs in the development of their ideas and business models. Read Article

QLD home to national drone manufacturing facility

Queensland has secured the development of a $50 million drone and robotics manufacturing centre. The Federal Government will fulfil an election commitment to locate the Defence Cooperative Research Centre (CRC) for Trusted Autonomous Systems in Queensland. The national facility will develop drone technology for the armed forces with spinoffs for industry also expected. Read Article

Stockland innovate with new all abilities park and playground

Stockland in partnership with the WA Department of Communities and the Touched by Olivia Foundation have created a large scale themed park that caters to children of all abilities in its Perth Sienna Woods master planned community development. The $4.8 million, 6 hectare park incorporates a ship wreck, dual all abilities flying fox, in-ground trampolines, musical equipment, table tennis, basketball court, coffee container, dog park, and walk and cycle paths.
