CEO's Diary - December 2018

22 November 2018, meeting with Richard Ferrett, Brisbane Lord Mayor’s Chief of Staff: I meet regularly with Mr Ferrett to discuss how we can work together with council to create a better Brisbane.

30 November 2018, meeting with Redland City Council: I met with the Redland City Council CEO, Andrew Chesterman. The meeting centred around the Industry Leaders Research Group’s (ILRG) latest round of research into community perceptions of Performance Based Planning.

3 December 2018, EnviroDevelopment Technical Standards Workshop: I participated in a workshop to review the technical standards that underpin EnviroDevelopment. As a sustainability rating tool, it is important that the technical standards are reviewed to ensure that EnviroDevelopment keeps ahead of the curve as a mark of sustainability excellence.

4 December 2018, meeting with Kerry Doss, Deputy Director-General of Planning: I meet regularly with Mr Doss to discuss the issues faced by our members across the State, including our recent submissions on koala mapping and bushfire guidance materials.

4 December 2018, attending Planning System Reference Group Meeting: Chaired by the Deputy Director-General of Planning, the Reference Group includes representatives from local government, the Property Council of Australia, the Council of Social Services, and the Planning Institute of Australia. The purpose of the Group is to act as a sounding board for potential changes to policy and process as well as providing feedback from our members.

12 December 2018, attending Housing and Homelessness Dashboard Expert Reference Group meeting: The Reference Group was formed to shape the reporting program behind the development of a Housing and Homelessness data dashboard and includes representatives from other peak industry bodies, Non Government Organisations, researchers, and Federal Government officers.

13 December 2018, attending Koala Advisory Council meeting: The Advisory Council was formed to provide advice on the development and implementation of a new koala conservation strategy in Queensland. I am looking forward to representing the development industry on the council and work together to achieve the best possible outcome.
