$11.58 billion for Qld infrastructure

The State Infrastructure Plan Part B: Program (SIP) outlines $11.58 billion of infrastructure investment and 395 construction projects in 2018–19, up from $10.17 billion in 2017-18.

The SIP also includes the $225 million Building Our Regions Program the work of the Coordinator-General and market-led proposals, and Local Government support in the Maturing the Infrastructure Pipeline Program.

This latest annual update also includes significant private sector infrastructure. Key projects listed include:

Local Government

  • Brisbane Metro,
  • Kingsford Smith Drive upgrade,
  • Cairns Performing Arts Centre,
  • Cairns Northern Cycleway,
  • Mackay Regional Sport Precinct Project.

Queensland Government

  • Cross River Rail,
  • Burdekin Falls Dam improvements (SunWater),
  • Rookwood Weir,
  • Beerburrum to Nambour rail upgrade,
  • Picnic Creek and Pimpama state schools,
  • Vines Creek Bridge replacement.

Australian Government

  • Inland Rail (Australian Rail Track Corporation).

Coordinator-General facilitated projects

  • Hayman Island and Daydream Island repair and refurbishment project,
  • Lindeman Great Barrier Reef Resort,
  • Townsville State Development Area.

Building Our Regions

  • Bundaberg Regional Aviation and Aerospace Precinct – stage 3,
  • Agnes Water waste transfer station,
  • Hope Vale fibre optic project.

Private Sector

  • Logan Motorway Enhancement Project,
  • Brisbane Airport –  second runway,
  • Townsville Airport upgrade and expansion,
  • Sunshine Coast Airport –  new east-west runway,
  • Brisbane International Cruise Terminal.

The SIP includes an extensive list of projects, a good assessment of work done in the past year and expected expenditure on projects in the coming 4-year period and beyond as well as possible projects and a breakdown by category, for example: $4.9 billion to transport projects, $2.1 billion to energy, $1.1 billion cross government such as PDAs and local government.
