Mackay Whitsunday, let's continue the good work we’ve started together
Re-join as a member of the Institute in 2018 to continue the good work we’ve started together!
As we approach the end of 2017, it’s opportune to reflect on what we’ve achieved together. You told us what was important to the local development industry. We took that feedback and kept it front of mind when we advocated to government, undertook research, and planned informative branch events.
We also know each region faces different opportunities and challenges. The Mackay-Whitsunday Branch is working hard to voice member feedback on local industry matters, and we are pleased to share a few highlights from 2017:
We engaged strongly with decision makers to improve council’s Development Incentive Policy, Regional Economic Development Strategy, and Mackay’s new Planning Scheme. We are currently providing input on the proposed Coastal Hazard Adaptation Strategy in Whitsunday
We ensured the voices of Mackay Branch Members were heard in our responses to pivotal matters like the new Whitsunday Regional Council Planning Scheme, the ‘Priority Five’ regional infrastructure priority list, and in reviewing storm water drainage studies for strategic areas in Mackay
We initiated the process for a Priority Development Area (PDA) to be considered and potentially declared for the Mackay Waterfront by December 2018 and are investigating further industrial land supply at Rosella, in conjunction with Economic Development Queensland (EDQ)
Our Research Foundation reports, Planning Pulse, Regional Radar, and Census fact sheets were delivered straight to your inbox, sharing the latest market and consumer analysis for Mackay and Whitsunday
We hosted four events including a regional market update and Planning System workshop.
