Cairns BP's end of year wrap up
Thank you to our Cairns Branch members for another great year. We really appreciate your support to help the local development industry deliver better communities.
This year our events attracted almost 200 attendees. Heads Up: Cairns Infrastructure and Investment event in particular had an amazing turnout.
It has also been a busy year from a policy perspective. We ensured the voices of Branch Members were heard in our responses to pivotal matters like the Cairns South State Development Area (SDA) and Far North Queensland Regional Organisation of Councils Development Manual.
We also reviewed the Cairns Local Government Infrastructure Plan (LGIP), strongly advocated for a Headworks (Infrastructure Charges) Incentive Scheme, also on electricity infrastructure issues and to the Northern Australia Insurance Inquiry and extended support for the Cairns Shipping Development Project. The Institute also provided input into the draft Queensland Building Plan (project bank accounts), Great Barrier reef regulation proposals, building certification and products, infill development, infrastructure provision for growth areas, water quality proposals, UDIA pre budget and election proposals, the Urban Design Referral Trigger, and the Queensland Housing Code.
Our Research Foundation reports, Planning Pulse, Regional Radar, and Census fact sheets were delivered straight to your inbox, sharing the latest market and consumer analysis for Cairns
Thanks also to the branch committee for their work this year. Your time and effort is greatly appreciated.
On behalf of the committee, we look forward to seeing you all in 2018.
