  • Tropical Sustainable Design - Case Studies Project

This is a Non-UDIA Event.

You are invited to join JCU officials and a range of industry professionals including Mr Gavin King MP and architect/scholar Dr Philip Bay in launching the Tropical Sustainable Design Case Studies project.

The collation and publication of the case studies has been made possible through a grant from the JCU Sustainability Fund.  The case studies themselves provide a baseline of data and have been compiled by members of the Cairns and region construction industry.  They will be made available on the JCU website and will be a freely available resource for students and the industry. This is the start of an ongoing opportunity to provide case studies to the University.

We have case studies of large developments at Ports North and Skyrail, Smithfield Village, Brookfield Estate, the Cairns Convention Centre, TNQIT TAFE, Botanical Gardens Visitors Centre, William McCormack Place Stage 2, Edge Hill State School and Redlynch Sports Stadium to name a few. There are also a number of case studies featuring multi-units, tourist accommodation, work carried out in the Daintree, our national parks, Aboriginal and Thursday Island remote communities.
