  • Spotlight On: Draft Cairns Region Planning Scheme

With the consultation period for the Draft Cairns Region Planning Scheme now open, the UDIA (Qld) Cairns Branch has gathered industry experts to review the key changes, particularly concerning building heights.

Cairns Regional Council Mayor Bob Manning said: “Last year’s public feedback on the draft scheme identified the current height limits as a major barrier to new residential and commercial development, and this is putting Cairns at an economic disadvantage”.

Timed to be held before the community consultation period closes on 25 August, this event will feature insight from:

  • Professor Phillip Follent, architect and principle at Follent,
  • Peter Gardiner, Director and board member at Peddle Thorp.
  • Chris Buckley, Director at MeterDesign.

*Price includes one course plated lunch, juice & soft drink, tea & coffee
