The public consultation phase associated with the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the proposed $8.15 billion Aquis Great Barrier Reef Resort Project opened on Saturday 21 June 2014. The EIS describes the project and the current environment; the project's environmental impacts and ways of avoiding, mitigating or offsetting these impacts. The impacts include direct, indirect and cumulative impacts resulting from the construction, commissioning, operation and decommissioning of the project.
With the release of the EIS, we now have the opportunity to analyse, discuss and assess the proposed project with detailed information provided by the Proponents, in accordance with the Terms of Reference.
