  • Gold Coast | Spotlight On: Developing on the Coast – Coastal Planning

Aussies love living on the coast, and in Queensland we have the nation’s most popular coastal regions offering employment, lifestyle and economic development. Official Queensland Government statistics predict that our state will grow by 2.5 million people over the next 25 years, with South East Queensland increasing faster than the state average.

This raises the question: How do we meet coastal population growth demands while effectively managing the environmental risks, such as climate change and rising sea levels?

The State Government has flagged that changes to existing coastal planning policies are on the horizon. Now is the time to shine a spotlight on this topic and ask:

  • What changes are the State Government considering?
  • How does the current regulatory framework work and how does this differ to the 2012 Queensland Coastal Plan (QCP)?
  • What should future regulation look like?

Join the UDIA (Qld) for our not to be missed Spotlight On: Coastal Planning Laws event to discuss the future of development on the Queensland coastline.
