The UDIA Queensland’s Mackay Whitsunday Branch understands the important role our industry plays in boosting regional economic activity and creating liveable communities.
The development industry in Mackay employs around 12,000 people or nearly 10 per cent of the region’s workforce and the industry contributes $259 million in state and federal taxes.
As a Branch we know that when our industry is doing well, our community is doing well. We are passionate advocates for our members ensuring that our region provides quality and affordable housing and development choices for our growing population.
To ensure our members’ voice is heard by the Mackay Regional Council, we are involved with monthly committee meetings on policy issues including the draft Adopted Infrastructure Charges Notice (AICN) discussion paper, draft Mackay Regional Planning Scheme, stormwater quality offsets, development assessment and operational works application fees.
Each month our Development Reference Group meets with the Mackay Regional Council Mayor, Councillor for Development and Planning, CEO and Director of Planning to resolve issues and to continue to streamline the development approval process on behalf of our members.
We are proud of our reputation as the expert advisors to the Mackay Regional Council and we have worked hard to develop strong relationships with local businesses, decision makers and government officers.
